Part VIII

Install & distribution

On this page

Public binary distribution is pending. This documentation does not yet provide a public download or a supported anonymous installation path. The source repositories may remain private; publishing the website does not grant repository or release access.

Listing 8.1 · Operator-only checkout installation (access required)

The existing installer targets Axon, Soma, Engram and Thalamus for operators who already have access to CNS and the required organ release assets. Cortex and the early Hippocampus component have separate upstream instructions. These are restricted-access development instructions, not the public quickstart. Use a development machine, not a shared inference node.

git clone https://github.com/ivannovak/cns.git
cd cns
./deploy/install-binaries.sh
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
# bin/cns needs zsh and jq. Keep CNS_ROOT pointing at this checkout.
export CNS_ROOT="$PWD"
export PATH="$CNS_ROOT/bin:$PATH"

The installer downloads compiled release assets using gh. Authenticate with an account explicitly granted access to the required private repositories and releases; authentication alone does not grant that access. The installer source (repository access required) describes platform and asset selection. Public binary availability and platform coverage are not established by this page. Homebrew distribution is not provided by this site.

Listing 8.2 · Initialise a repository

For operators who have already installed the tools through an authorized distribution path:

cd /path/to/your/repository
# Optional: configure your actual relay before init.
# export THALAMUS_URL="https://your-relay.example"
cns init --domain your-domain
cns status
cns gate

Without a relay, init writes local-only retrieval configuration. It does not invent a model host. Existing OTE manifests are not rewritten. See cns init and the endpoint resolution contract.

Note 8.1 · Machine paths are not portable configuration

The installed CLI and some harness assets contain machine-specific paths. Use CNS_ROOT for the checkout and inspect harness files before copying them. This site does not silently rewrite those upstream assets.

cns curate
cns status
cns gate

The closeout gate is structural by default. The System 1 rubric sends inference and requires explicit opt-in; unavailable requested work is reported as not evaluated.
